Effect of saliva fluid properties on pathogen transmissibility

چکیده

Abstract With an increasing body of evidence that SARS-CoV-2 is airborne pathogen, droplet character formed during speech, coughs, and sneezes are important. Larger droplets tend to fall faster less prone drive the transmission pathway. Alternatively, small (aerosols) can remain suspended for long time periods. The size enables it be encapsulated in these aerosols, thereby pathogen’s ability transmitted via paths. Droplet formation human respiratory events relates airspeed (speech, cough, sneeze), fluid properties saliva/mucus, content itself. In this work, we study fluidic drivers (fluid content) their influence on factors relating transmissibility. We explore relationship between saliva Interestingly, natural response appears potentially work with mitigate pathogen transmission. varied using two approaches: (1) modifying colloids increase viscosity/surface tension, (2) stimulating increased/decreased levels. Through modern experimental numerical flow diagnostic methods, character, content, exposure aerosols all evaluated. results indicate altering significantly impact distribution, trajectory bulk plume, (or transmissibility) droplets.
